Robotics & Industrial Automation

Robotics (n): the design, construction, and operation of machines that sense, decide, and act in the physical world.

At AmTECH Microelectronics, we support a growing community of partners building the next generation of intelligent machines. The field is at an inflection point. Advances in AI, sensing, and power electronics are converging to make robots more capable, more autonomous, and more collaborative than ever before. Humanoid platforms, collaborative robots (cobots), and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are moving out of the lab and onto factory floors, into warehouses, and alongside people. That move calls for electronics that are compact, efficient, and rugged enough to perform reliably under constant motion, vibration, and thermal stress.

Our work in robotics spans the full electronic nervous system of a machine, from the sensors that perceive the environment to the compute that interprets it and the power electronics that drive motion. Current robotics and automation customers are working on:

  • Perception & Machine Vision: Integrating image sensors, LiDAR, and depth cameras for navigation, inspection, and object recognition.
  • Motion Control & Power Electronics: Engineering compact motor drivers and high-efficiency SiC and GaN power modules for precise, responsive actuation.
  • Tactile & Force Sensing: Developing sensor arrays that give robotic hands and grippers a sense of touch and dexterity.
  • Industrial Automation & Control: Building ruggedized controllers, I/O modules, and inspection systems for smart manufacturing environments.

Whether a robot is assembling electronics, moving inventory, or assisting in surgery, it must work flawlessly in demanding real-world conditions. That standard begins with how its electronics are built. We bring precision assembly, process control, and reliability-focused manufacturing to every build so our partners’ machines can perform where it matters.
